WWII Vets receive Gold Medal


ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Two World War II veterans who are Rochester natives will receive a Congressional Gold Medal on Tuesday, the highest civilian honor given by the United States Government.

Thomas Hope and Thomas Johnson will receive the medal in Washington for being part of the Special Services Force otherwise known as the Devils Brigade and for helping to liberate Europe and end World War II. Hope and Johnson are two of 1800 members who were in that force.
